Seminars

Weekend On The Ranch

This 2 day seminar explores all the aspects of the alpaca industry. Course outline is a combination of presentations, interactive discussion and hands-on learning. By the end of the weekend you will have enough information to help set goals and complete a business plan. All materials, beverages, snacks and lunch will be provided.

Coffee to Cocktails

This 1 day seminar format provides an introduction to what is involved in alpaca ranching a viable business. All materials, beverages, and lunch will be provided.

Stargazer "Ranch-Hand" Day

This 1 day event is an introduction to alpaca husbandry and herd management. Participants will be asked to help with as many routine maintenance items as we can schedule. We'll share our protocols and resources for events such as birthing and breeding, cria care and common treatments. All materials, beverages and lunch will be provided.

Open Barn

This is just like an "Open House" except it is held in the barn so we don't have to clean the house. Entertainment provided by the alpacas. Hosts will answer questions and assist with animal interactions if needed. Some areas are relatively assessable to wheelchairs.

Fiber Classes

Fiber Dyeing

This 8 hour class is a primer for fiber dyeing. Learn various techniques to dye raw fiber, roving and yarn. Equipment, materials, lunch and beverages.

Beginning Spinning

This 8 hour class is a primer for spinning natural fiber. Participants will try their hand at on different types of spinning equipment. Yarn made in class is your to take home. Use of equipment, materials, lunch and beverages included.

Felting With Alpaca

This 8 hour class is a primer for felting with alpaca. Participants will make a pair of slippers or a hat out of alpaca to take home. Use of molds and materials included. Use of equipment, materials, lunch and beverages included.

Begining Weaving

This 8 hour class is a primer for rigid heddle weaving. Participants will learn how to prepare and warp the loom and weave a scarf to take home. Use of loom, materials, lunch and beverages included.
